Opening Reception: April 24, 2013 from 7:00-9:00pm
The Fine Lines brings together works that explore the widest possibilities and narratives that can be created from the simplest drawn lines. Straight, aligned, parallel, convoluted or deconstructed, the simple lines and patterns presented in this show can be seen not just as tools of spatial demarcation but as rooted further in desires to establish the relationship between concepts and patterns, structures and phenomena.
Lines are the basic building blocks of our pictorial language. Even speaking is a form of imaginary abstraction. Just like writing, to speak is to create a relationship between a concept and its sound pattern. The drawn line thus represent in essence basic primal functions and urges to express. It is an attempt to understand the world around us, and at their heart a search for truth. The human need to invent patterns, symbols and forms through the play of line is celebrated in this show with an amazing group of artists including: Corinne Felgate, William Stein, Gary Colclough, Katrina Blannin, Nick Hornby, Sinta Tantra & Dale Adcock.
